Today I want to share with you about my fears of doing videos. Like what? Yes, fears of doing video. At this time of recording, I was recording quite a lot of online courses and I'm doing stuff, but I want to share with you my fear. Yes, I still have fear of recording videos. So in case you're still thinking what's going on in my mind, what's wrong? Are you listening to the wrong episode? No, you're listening to the right episode right now. [00:02:16]
Genecia Alluora: Okay, so the fear of videos came as I'm getting a little bit too comfortable doing podcasting because podcasting doesn't need to show face, right? I am like recording podcasting in my PJs, recording podcast on days that I don't have makeup on. I'm really enjoying podcasting and whatever I have something that I want to share with you. I just turn on the mic, turn on my rocaster pro, and I just start recording. And that's how simple it is. I just want to do voice stuff that doesn't have to show my face. So what were some of the fears that I faced as a leader myself, recording videos even though I'm quite experienced doing FB live and the videos I'm recording for my online courses?

[00:03:16]
Genecia Alluora: I think the big difference is when I'm recording marketing videos, marketing videos means you are using those videos to get attention, to get leads, to get inquiries. You are using these videos to kind of grab the attention, whether is it on different social media platforms or marketing platforms that in itself I have this fear of whether I'm doing it correctly or not because there's no real benchmark as to what is the correct marketing video in your own niche. So depending on your own flavor, your own experience, your own style, that in itself is really quite a hefty mix to be putting it into a mixer, I would say, for recording videos. And I get really overwhelmed sometimes when I sit down and I plan my marketing videos and I totally hate recording it.

[00:04:13]
Genecia Alluora: I will be delaying for days procrastinating not recording my marketing videos, especially because it's not FB live. FB live, even though it's alive when I need to show my face. But I could just say whatever I need to say at the moment, I don't really need to be perfect, and so on and so forth. But when it comes to marketing videos, you have to be on point. You have to look your best. And there are so many other things in my mind whether this will work, this will not work, and will this sentence actually attract and connect with my audience? And I go so deep into micromanaging recording my videos, and I sometimes forget that these days, it's not about how perfect your video may be. It's how fast you put it out there into the marketplace and test your video, whether it's working, not working, bring it back in, and then tweak along the way.

[00:05:18]
Genecia Alluora: So it's kind of running this A, B testing that we need to do when we are doing marketing. So, number one, I get stuck being a perfectionist. Okay? Yes, I do. All right, don't roll your eyes at me. Yes, I do. I do this complete perfectionist act on my marketing videos, and sometimes I miss the dateline, and then I get scolding by my mentor, James and my team ask me, Genecia, are you recording the videos? I'm like, I want to be perfect. So, yes, I'm human. Okay? So first thing is I get perfectionist into the perfectionist mode. Number two, I always question every single sentence of right and wrong and whether I'm doing correctly or not and have to put on makeup. Your hair has to look perfect. Your dressing has to look awesome. Every single thing has to be good the lighting, the microphone, everything. And I become so paranoid when something don't go well.

[00:06:21]
Genecia Alluora: Like, when I was recording the marketing video for the podcast webinars, there were some issues with the recording, and the voice was a little bit was little bit contorted or something like that. It was just some issues. And I got so paranoid that I almost wanted to redo the whole thing And I told myself, no, we should just launch just tweak. I did a little bit, redo some small parts of it and just go heat with it. And by forcing myself consciously not to be so focused and micromanaging my own hair, my own looks, the way I speak, am I looking at the screen, all these things, even though I'm trained, I become so conscious and aware of it.

[00:07:11]
Genecia Alluora: And even though I can be really good at it, but I will pick on myself because I'm very critic, critical of who I am. And this is one bad habit that all of us should quit doing. All right, said easier than done, Genecia. Yeah, that's why I'm doing this episode for you. Okay. Perfectionist on the other side of the world. I'm talking about you, too. So yes. So perfectionist and myself being micromanager of myself and critic of myself. All right, so what should we do? Number one, always find an accountability partner who will kick your ass and say, hey, stop being so critical of who you are and own up to self love, have more self love and just do whatever it takes to get it done two week later. Okay?

[00:08:15]
Genecia Alluora: So usually it's the mentor who will be my accountability partner and my team will tell me, it's okay, Genecia, let's get moving. Let's get let's do something out. Let's roll. If cannot, then we do again, or we do what we call the A, B testing, and then we try something else. Don't get too perfect because now in the age and how fast online has become, how crowded online has become, it's not about how perfect a video can do, but how viral your video can go. That's another topic for another day. So that's number one. Number two, you got to really breathe in love and exhale fear. Breathe in love and exhale fear. Yes, that's right.

[00:09:10]
Genecia Alluora: This is one thing that we don't do enough for ourselves. We are so critical of every single thing that we do. So yes, my fear of videos comes from these two main factors. And by being aware of it first, catching myself and being open to share it with you that I do face the same thing. Number three, I also sometimes just don't want to record because I just want to avoid, right? So I have this avoiders syndrome as well. So by loving myself, breathing in fear... Sorry, breathing in love and exhaling fear helps me to embrace my recording schedules, even though I try to run away from it. Yes, I do. I run. I create and I manifest things that will stop me from recording. It happens. And it's probably happening to you too. So when we say we want to get things done and you say I can't because something else has come up with because I'm just too busy. You know what, girl? If it's not scheduled, it's not real.

[00:10:31]
Genecia Alluora: Time to give yourself more love and exhale those fear and really find an accountability partner who will kick your ass and stay with you and encourage you to complete the race. Because you know what? For Joseph Schooling to win an Olympic gold, he needs to jump into the pool and swim to win the race. The gold medal. So it goes the same for you and me. So the fear of recording videos, sometimes it's just false expectations appearing real, and there are definitely ways to go around it. All right. So I hope you enjoy today's episode and I hope I've encouraged you to get out of your comfort zone and take a baby step to start recording a video or do a FB live, Instagram live, whichever video format that may be in. I love you, sending you my love and I'll speak to you soon. Bye for now.
