[00:01:15]
Genecia Alluora: Hey gorgeous and welcome to today's episode Soul Why? Secrets of the Soul Rich Woman blueprint. Today I want to talk about the part time jobs I did and how it has shaped me as a person. When I was 14 years old, I had to support myself through school. But many of you will know that I worked as an instructor, yoga instructor, aerobics and line dancing instructor. My mom pawned her gold and raised funds for me to be certified in these certifications. On top of it, I also did waitressing during OD hours in bars and clubs and also do work as a dancer. So it's those like dance for 15, 20 minutes a segment and then they have like two segments a night, those kind. And it was tough because can you imagine weekends I work in bars as a waitressing and also for things and then later on during the day, on the days I work as an instructor and while all these are happening when I'm in school.
[00:02:43]
Genecia Alluora: So how did it shape me as a person? I think being able to do multiple OD jobs or part time jobs gave me an opportunity to meet different people, present myself in a way that people would see me as credible with integrity, independent, trustworthy, accountability. And because of all these, 1s it allowed me to get more jobs actually. And that is why when I hire my team, my VAs or my local teams, I always look into being independent, attitude, accountability. Because it is the same way that I got promoted, I got more jobs, I was trusted. With stability and security as a long term project where they just change even though they can change other people. They will keep me on their team because I'm deemed as good attitude, have accountability and be independent, trustworthy. So all these qualities I learned during the time when I was doing part time jobs and as a student and it was really tough at the same time.
[00:04:09]
Genecia Alluora: Because it's very long hours that people don't know. And often in school I actually sleep in classes, even though I try to be a good student in school. But, you know, making money is important, and in school I was falling asleep because I was tired sometimes. My grades also suffered to a certain extent. And my friends in school, be it in Polytechnic or in junior college, a lot of them didn't think very highly of me as a result of my grades. They judged me because of how bad I do in my studies. They didn't want to be friends with me. They formed their own cliques. And they just look at me. This girl, she's always failing, not doing well in school, and I don't think she'll pass. And why is she even in this course? Why is she even in this diploma program? Why is she even in secondary school or JC in college? Why?
[00:05:26]
Genecia Alluora: And they seeded in me, adult in myself. Why am I doing in the education system in Singapore? Why am I still studying? Is it a must that I need to study and really get the certificate to get the diploma? But you know what? Good thing I have one and two very, very good friends who kicked my ass and said, hey, just complete your studies and do whatever you want later. In Singapore, we talk about meritocracy, which means your certificates in your degree and your whatever, right? So, okay, at least I must complete my studies even though I was holding my part time jobs even though I was thinking about quitting school and leaving school education system because I was already making money. Because making money is important. But I thank God that I kept my studies and I at least finished my studies even though I didn't do well in school.
[00:06:38]
Genecia Alluora: I'm not proud, but I just want to say I am repeat student I repeated junior college. That means supposed to be two years I repeated so I had three years to complete and then I went to polytechnic, a local polytechnic here in Singapore. And I failed one of my major subjects in occupational therapy and I had to repeat that module in my third year. Can you imagine all these things happening while having to keep the money afloat, having to do part time jobs and put food on the table for tuition fees paid for so many things that I'm doing. I struggled. It is very tough if nobody really knows what it's like to study, to work. And it's not work because I need the money to it for my LV bag or a Mass bag. But I really needed the money for my education. My dream was to be a vet, be a doctor. But I couldn't do it because of my background, because I was distracted, because of the things that I wanted to do.
[00:08:20]
Genecia Alluora: I needed to work. I was so distracted in school. Maybe, you know, maybe during that time, if I had a better opportunity, I had a different life, maybe it'll be better. But as I look back today where I am and looking back at my part time jobs, I would actually say thank you to the part time jobs and the people who has helped me along the way. It because of my journey I became very determined. I'm resilient in the work that I'm doing. I have a never say die attitude when I think about something I want to do. I want to reach out to 1 million women. To own and love the F word, being fabulous, having freedom, financial independence and family. I want to do it. And nothing can stop me. When I say I want to reach out to Mary Buffett, to Gary Vaynerchuk, to Cheryl Sandberg, nothing can stop me. I want to be a global speaker on the world stage next to Jay Abraham, T-Haf Ecker, tony Robbins. I never give up.
[00:09:42]
Genecia Alluora: I just keep getting there. So what all these part time jobs and my journey has taught me is a never say die attitude to where I am today. Building up Soul Rich Woman, of course, failing in multiple businesses, going into debts, and now coming out of all this and living my dreams. Well, I may not be a doctor. I may not be a veterinarian. But at least I'm the founder of my own dreams. Another set of dreams that is truly meaningful and amazing. Of course, I've not given up being a doctor. Maybe not a medical doctor, but at least one day I will be a doctor Genecia Alluora because of the accomplishments and the achievements. It that I have done. So, yeah, it's still there. At least now when I look at it, there is still a way to do it. Just not the way that I think that it is, but rather from another perspective.
[00:11:00]
Genecia Alluora: So, my friend, never give up on yourself. Never think that it's too hard. There is still a way for you to achieve your dreams. It may not be the straight and narrow path that you think about achieving. God has a way to bring you in different path, meeting different people, and maybe just the one day that through your journey, you will eventually achieve your dreams as I am.
