Genecia Alluora: Hi, and welcome to today's episode, and I'm going to share with you how I turn from an image consultant to an expert helping thousands of women bringing her business online. Now, are you or do you want to bring your business online but you have no idea where to start? So I'm going to share with you, first of all, why I decided to go online being an image consultant since 2006. For a couple of years into 2012, I was doing pageant coaching and as well as an image consulting for CEOs of companies, politicians and decision makers. To me, I wanted to, you know, really be different and not to be the same as other people. So I was looking at my image mentors, and definitely there are my seniors and mentors around me that I was looking at. And I realized that at the age they are in there are still teaching and in in my world, I asked myself this question, would I really want to be still physically teaching in the corporate world or consulting my clients, physically being their location dependent work, I get paid, work I get paid, I don't work, I don't get paid? That was the question I asked myself.

Genecia Alluora: So I was kind of in like a quarter life crisis. In fact, maybe earlier than that, because I was working since I was 14 years old, and I can't see myself being an entrepreneur who's trading time for money and not leveraging on systems to work more with less. So then it occurred to me, okay, I must find a way to go online because I no longer want to trade time for money. So I decided. Now, there were three problems when I was looking and searching for ways to go online back in 2012. And the first thing was there were there were no clear sign of gurus there was online. I mean, there were in fact a plenty of them. And, you know, everybody is saying that I can help you to go online, I can help you to go online. But I don't know whether they really can help people to go online, because I don't know if they are the real time mentors or the just read from a book kind of mentor. So that was the thing I was thinking about. So I had to do a lot of deep research about each and every single one of them that I was learning from, and eventually I was still not being able to find someone who was suitable to whom I want to learn from. And eventually I found this person. His name is James, James Wee, and also Wilson, Wilson Ang. This were the two gentlemen who were localized. First and foremost, they are from Singapore and they have really done online businesses and they have crossed their, you know, five figure six figures really. And I've seen them in person. It's like, wow, I can touch the brick, you know, and by by having that, it gave me more trust versus just online.

Genecia Alluora: Then again, I also bought many online courses during this journey of doing deep researching, I bought like ten different types of courses each course ranging from $3000 to $10,000. So I spent so much money trying to figure a way out. And still, I don't need another online course because every course is just video and download and just felt very frustrated. So I decided to go with my mentorship with James, James Wee, who was the one who guided me to cross my first $100,000 in three months, and then later on, $1 million within a single year in 2013. Problem number two was that it was not culture specific, being a woman from Singapore in Asia, you know, when there's always the saying the grass is always greener from the other side. So when you position yourself as a woman leader, people don't really want to learn from Asian women. Somehow Asian women are not as sexy as the, you know, counterparts of the other side of the world. Take it from the US or the Europe counterparts. So fortunately and unfortunately, there was a way that we need to be strategic about it.

Genecia Alluora: Also, whatever the worked in the other side of the world doesn't work locally. For example, if you were to dress in a certain way, people would judge you. So by having an understanding cultural differences, the dressing and the way you present yourself as a woman leader online, especially if you're coming from Asia, need to be really strategic about it. For example, not wearing too low cut, for example, you need to wear higher neckline. Not talking about conservative, but really conservative in a positive way. That means if you want to be seen and respected as a woman leader here in Asia, please jolly well throw on a jacket not overly sexy and, you know, be modern at the same time. Yet you cannot be overly seen as old fashioned. So it was not easy trying to balance like, okay, all these different pieces that people are looking at us as Asian women and women leaders. So I managed to find a middle ground. I managed to find a way to overcome this aspect, which is to really rebrand myself in terms of my the way I dress as well, from being in the entertainment side, in the pageant coaching where I was wearing sexy gowns and sexy outfits to, you know, later on, more dress suits. And of course, yet in a way that I'm not constrained by suits all the time.

Genecia Alluora: So I found an in between, something comfortable yet fun being able to position myself as an authority and woman leader and leader activated. So the third one was technical. Technical was getting into the way. I mean, I'm not technical savvy at all. It was really tough for me to get in onto all the technical software and everything. So I needed some time to study and prepare myself for all the technical softwares that will learn. And you know how to do a webinar. How do you do you know, how do you do and schedule your things? How do you use multiple softwares to run an entire online business without you having been there, which means doing more with less? So I told myself, hey, I really want to learn how to do more with less. Okay, so then I definitely set time aside to learn all these softwares. From landing pages to email delivery, delivering tools to photo editing software, to so many different aspects. So it was really tough in 2012 to 2013 when I was learning to go online.

Genecia Alluora: So I just want to encourage you today, I've overcome it all. And if you are looking to bring your business online, but no idea, even where to start is to find a mentor so that you can avoid all these problems that I used to face and I spent so much time trying to figure them out. Shortcut your success. Find a mentor whom you respect. They have the results that you want. He or she has the results that you want and really, you know, work with them. Be willing to invest in yourself. I mean, how much is your time really worth to trying to figure things out? You know, tell yourself I'm not good enough, or having the language pattern of, oh, I'm not tech savvy, you know, you are successful now. Therefore I cannot do it. Stop all these nonsense sounds that is in your head. What are women talking themselves to stop their dreams to work towards their dreams? Why are you telling yourself now in between your two years, they're stopping you to go towards your dreams that you've always wanted?
