[00:01:18]
Genecia Alluora: Hello and welcome to this episode. I'm Genecia Alluora. How are you today? I hope all is well at this current moment in time. Today I want to share with you a little bit about my mom's journey to be featured online, to be seen as an online leader. And, you know, my mom is 60 plus years old now and, you know, she loves to cook. So just a couple of months ago, the radio station here in Singapore wanted me to kind of like wanted me to go on to find someone to do a cooking program online on for their radio station. And of course, I recommended my own mom and got her into the radio program and I'm very happy that it happened. Then the question is, Oh, ow, what do I do? Because you look at it, my mom is an offline person. She's 60 plus and she has not been online except her Facebook posting like the cat's photo. I mean, my my cats, my two cats at home and then the food and then activities that she's doing her volunteer work, a charity work, her morning exercise routine. Right.
[00:02:43]
Genecia Alluora: So this person is very offline person. I'm like, okay, I have to bring her online. I have to show her my skill set, right? So I just want to share with you a little bit about how hard I work to get my mother online and why I still did it anyway. Because first and foremost, I love my mom and I just found it a great way for me to build rapport and relationship with her. And at another level, I mean, I could just say that, yeah, it's so difficult. You know, this is a project that I'm not paid for. I shouldn't do it, you know, my mum. Never mind. Just put her one side, you know, don't care. But I didn't do that. I kind of like brainwashed myself and say, No, Genecia, you know, you need to really look into how to help your mum craft a brand like exactly how you help every single woman out there right now, even for you who's listening in right now to get her online. So I was like, okay, I got to test out my soul rich woman blueprint. Is it even applicable for women like my mum who is not old. I mean, I say my mum is old. No, I mean like my mum at 60 plus who has no online presence? Almost zero, just maybe with a Facebook account. How did I get her online?
[00:04:06]
Genecia Alluora: So the challenge was how to get her online and bring in an online income for her. That means building another source of income. So I had to discuss with the radio station because first and foremost, you are not allowed to sell. Being like not allowed to sell on the radio station, but they could just insert a link into their social media so that there could be if people who are interested, people could just check out the link and the link, meaning that there's a place for them to click in the social media on the radio stations page so that they could access to what my mum has to offer. So within it was almost I was only given by the time my mum agreed to do this project, I was only given like two weeks, three weeks to sort out everything. So I literally went to work on my soul rich woman blueprint on my mum first crafting her story, looking at her woman of influence and then deciding what is the glow. So the way to strategize I did with my mum was my mum is positioned as a chef, not a chef, chef like those restaurant chefs. But she is a kind of like a very down to earth, the like a community chef, like, you know, helping women in the community to have a healthy lifestyle.
[00:05:32]
Genecia Alluora: So she's been positioned as that and then building up her glow, she is going to sell her recipe book. Okay. It's a digital download. Especially now. It is easy for everyone to access the recipe easily on their phone and then to make the thing sweeter. I literally throw in a few more goodies. That's worth like another $50, like a lipstick lip gloss, plus a moisturiser from very reputable brands. Okay. Famous makeup brands and reputable skincare brand that I shall not mention here. But these by and and to add on to this package, that means if you were to purchase you can get it the book and the products so it's it's irresistible so it's irresistible. Then I built up the funnels okay which is the magic funnels at the back end so that there is a process to nurture these people and build the database. Build the list. Right. Traffic is important, isn't it? Build the list from my mum. So literally I went to work, right, and put all these things together within weeks. So I just want to thank James, my mentor, also to step in for stepping in to help because I don't really know how to cook. Okay. I'm not really very savvy in the kitchen. All right.
[00:07:02]
Genecia Alluora: So I got in James to help me with the project. And Joanne Lee, who is a stay at home mum for the last 14 years, and she joins soul rich woman and then now our podcast coach. And you know, I got her in to support me on this project as well. So three of us put this whole thing together within like less than three weeks. I sent my mother for a photo shoot, a quarrel with her and argue with her. You know, she said, I don't look good in this set of clothes. You know, I hate wearing skirts and blah, blah, blah. You know how they are in their own generation. They have a certain way they love to dress and the way they think they should be looking in their own way. So it was kind of needing to balance between what she want and what I want in terms of, you know, presenting her publicly to the world, you know. So, I mean, I managed to sort that out with negotiation skills and then, you know, knowing how to communicate and really work with her and accept her for who she is.
[00:08:13]
Genecia Alluora: So my reason for sharing with you this story is as of this episode playing. And if you happen to hear this episode, well, my mom has already sold thousands of copies of her ebooks and has got now a recurring income. Not even I mean, yeah has got a recurring income through the launch from the radio station and also, you know, with our back end, you know what I'm seeing right now at least there is a backend that is automated. So that means we do it once this whole thing, we just do it once and it's recurring. Okay? It can only be recurring if you do the hard work first. Right? From the time my mum decided to do the project, you know, the just the recipe alone it's so hard work. My mum is only primary school. Um, she only studied until primary three. In case some of you didn't know, my mum is not really educated, so to her, writing in Chinese is already quite difficult. And then in English we have to translate and then we have to go back to her to structure the recipe again. So it's not so easy. Like, okay, she just gave us a recipe, she's perfectly written and everything else, you see. So I saw that in my mum. Even though she's illiterate, not so educated.
[00:09:40]
Genecia Alluora: She made an effort knowing that there was an opportunity for her to be seen as a leader. She didn't want the fame to be very frank with you. She told me, I don't want the fame. I just want to share my knowledge and expertise in healthy recipes that she cook every day. It's easy for people to cook everyday. And I saw that in my mum and I'm like, Wow, there's so much to learn from her even until today. And I'm so proud to be working with her on this project and, you know, sitting here and I'm thinking looking at her. And she sold thousands of copies of the e-book. Since the launch of the program, I just felt as a daughter, I'm so proud of her. And there's so much skill set that I've learnt and picked up, you know, doing my to bring my business online and helping thousands of women to bring their business online and now using it with my mum for my mum and creating another stream of income for her suddenly just blows my mind away like, wow, you know, have we ever thought about doing this for our family members? Then we have learnt such an amazing skill set to help them create another source of income by marketing them and knowing their expertise and knowing their knowledge and being able to, you know, share with them with the world.
[00:11:08]
Genecia Alluora: So it's never just about the money. Yes. You know, the book the e-book is 990. Okay. And plus of all the freebies that we've thrown in, about $50 worth of freebies you've thrown in. The book is 990. Right. And it it it really wows me how this whole process has turned out. From the beginning to my mom say, no, she didn't want to do because she she is illiterate. She can't really write. She she don't really know. Then we to cook coaching her and and convincing her to do it, to having to argue with her and fight with her to the dressing, the the makeover, the photoshoot. And then once that difficult phase was over, it was the hardest part, in fact, was the recipes me, Joanne and James. And she put in so much effort to make sure that she is correct in the way she want it and that the way we translate it was the way that she has intended to, you know, the meaning and the of the translation and things like that. So it was really an uphill task. But I'm so glad that now, just weeks after. I mean, that whole process now I'm just looking at it and said, wow, good job, you know, to myself and good job to my team and good job to my mum.
[00:12:39]
Genecia Alluora: And actually creating a legacy for her online. Never before. If the radio program didn't even come about, I would not even do that. You know. There's no real reason for me. I just like, okay, you know, just just do the everyday day in, day out. No, of course we still spend, I still spend time with her. Just that I would never even consider doing building that for her, building an online leadership presence for her building, and another recurring income for her just by selling ebooks online. So how about you, today who is listening in right now? You know, I'm so proud of my mum for even. Are we judging our family members like my mum is illiterate like my mum is? It's very it's not highly educated. She's only in primary school, you know, primary one primary to primary three. And after that she have to work and support her whole family. She come from a family of 13 siblings, 13 one, three. She comes from a family of 13. So so looking at her, her background, so are we judging our family members thinking they cannot make it, they can't do it? Or are we also able to consider, you know, maybe even helping our family members or people around us after learning this skill of bringing business online, bring on leadership online that day two can be the same.
[00:13:12]
Genecia Alluora: Then we can also do something for them so that they can also have something of their own. This is just something that I would like you to consider. Ya. It's something that I feel that overall this project has brought me kind of like another step closer to my mum, knowing my mum better to to a certain extent when we communicate more at different levels and also seeing how good my mum is and really enjoying the process of seeing my mum do the recipes and her passion for sharing and it kind of ignited and spark, re spark my own. So what about you? Are you doing something for your close ones? Family members. And that by doing that with them sometimes sparking and reigniting the reason why you do what you do. Something to think about. Thank you for joining me on this episode and I look forward to seeing you in the next one.
